Maxwell Mansolf is a research assistant professor in the Department of Medical Social Sciences at Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. His research focuses on methods for analyzing complex psychometric data, including multiple group modeling, missing data, and structural equation modeling.

Title of Talk: To pool or not to pool: Comparing analysis methods for psychometric data in multisite research

Combining data from multiple sites, studies, and projects may yield more robust insights into child health than any component data source alone. When analyzing such data, two possible approaches are (1) combine all data into a single data set and apply participant-level modeling techniques that account for subgroup membership; and (2) analyze data separately by subgroup, aggregating the results using meta-analytic techniques. In this talk, I will review both sets of approaches, with special focus on complexities that arise when the data of interest are multi-item scales or contain measurement error.
