DESCRIPTION:Dan Kass is Senior Vice President for Environmental\, Climate\,
  and Urban Health at Vital Strategies. His work involves promoting public 
 health engagement to address the leading physical\, social\, and built env
 ironmental contributors to disease and injury. At Vital\, he oversees the 
 EH/climate program\, lead poisoning prevention programs\, the Bloomberg Ph
 ilanthropies Partnership for Healthy Cities\, and the Bloomberg Initiative
  for Global Road Safety. He previously served as the Deputy Commissioner f
 or the Environmental Health at the NYC Department of Health and as Assista
 nt Commissioner for Environmental Surveillance and Policy. He founded and 
 for 12 years directed the Hunter College Center for Occupational and Envir
 onmental Health. He has served on Board of Scientific Counselors of the NI
 EHS National Toxicology Program\, EPA’s Pesticide Dialogue Committee\, a
 nd was Chair of the CDC Board of Scientific Counselors for the NCEH/ATSDR.
  He holds a Sc.B. degree from Brown University and M.S.P.H degree from the
  UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.\n\nTitle of Talk: The global burde

 human development and health have been known for more than a millennium\, 
 the true global burden of lead exposure has come into clearer focus over t
 he past decade. The global implications of ongoing and past lead use are s
 ignificant and born primarily in low- and middle-income countries. This pr
 esentation will share the emerging global consensus on lead and describe i
 nternational efforts to address exposure. Dan will share some of Vital Str
 ategies' work in building the capacity of public health institutions and c
 linical care providers around the world to understand and respond\, and it
 s implications for children's development and reducing premature mortality
