Title of Talk: Promoting the Submission of NIH Diversity Supplements: Portal for Advancing Inclusion Research Excellence and Diversity (PAIRED)
NIH Diversity Supplements are designed to provide support for research experiences for individuals from diverse backgrounds from high school to the faculty level, but are not well-known and under-utilized as a mechanism for increasing diversity in the biomedical workforce. Dr. Jamilia Sly, Co-Director of the Program for Anti-Racism and Equity for the Department of Population Health Science and Policy, will present data about barriers and facilitators to diversity supplements submissions at Sinai as well as suggestions to ease the submission process. She will also present a new webpage - the Portal for Advancing Inclusion Research Excellence and Diversity (PAIRED), developed with support from the Office of Faculty Development and Conduits (CTSA), to facilitate matching NIH-funded Mount Sinai investigators with diverse trainees.
