Presented by the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, Department of Ophthalmology, this phacoemulsification program will include a series of didactic presentations from New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai ophthalmology faculty and others on IOL lens implantation, concepts of biometry for lens calculation, strategies for recognizing and managing intraoperative complications before they advance to a critical stage, including contingencies such as small pupils, phacodonesis, floppy iris, and concomitant pathologies like uveitis, glaucoma, retinal disease or diabetes.
Various techniques for nuclear disassembly, cortical clean up, advanced secondary lens implantation and basic anterior vitrectomy will be covered, as well as premium lenses, introduction to femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), intraoperative aberrometry, management of astigmatism, post-operative pharmacology and legal considerations.
