 Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the return of the NDEx (Neurodevelopment, Neurodegeneration, and Environmental Exposures) Journal Club hosted by the Horton Lab and co-sponsored by the Institute for Exposomics and the Center for Health and Environmental Across the Lifespan (HEALS).

This in-person forum, held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1PM,  will explore research at the intersection of environmental exposures, brain development, and aging. We will focus on how neuroexposomics (the integration of comprehensive exposure science with neuroscience and neuroimaging) reveals the ways chemical, social, and structural environments shape brain trajectories across the lifespan, from early development through later-life outcomes.

Kickoff meeting
Thursday, October 16 | 1–2 pm
Center for Advanced Medicine, 17 E 102nd St, Room D3-127

All are welcome—students, postdocs, research staff, clinicians, and faculty. If you’d like to present a paper, suggest a speaker, or join the planning group, please reach out to Megan Horton (megan.horton@mssm.edu) and Leo Zekelman (leah.zekelman@mssm.edu).

In our first session, Dr. Zekelman will lead a discussion on a recent paper entitled Association of social and environmental exposures at the neighborhood level with child brain volume by Dimitrov LV, Christensen GM, Ku BS, Risk BB, & Huels A. (Environmental International, 2025). Please find this paper attached.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Best,
The Horton Lab
