The Mount Sinai Respiratory Institute is offering a comprehensive two-day course on advanced topics in pulmonary medicine in a didactic lecture and case-based format. The course is specifically designed for pulmonologists, advanced practice providers, as well as primary care physicians.

The course syllabus covers a wide range of subjects, including current diagnostic and treatment strategies for interstitial lung disease, COPD, asthma, lung cancer, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, and respiratory failure.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Optimize the role of the pulmonologist in diagnosis and management of hypersensitivity pneumonitis
  • Become familiar with the management of interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and its complications
  • Be proficient in the management of critically ill hospitalized patients the acute exacerbation of Interstitial Lung Disease
  • Optimize the workup and treatment options of patients with pulmonary hypertension

  • Discuss and apply the current literature guidelines and future options regarding the treatment of COPD
  • Explain the latest recommendations on identifying a diagnosis of asthma when atypical symptoms are present.
  • Become familiar with the current guidelines on the diagnosis and treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial disease.
  • Become familiar with the principles of prevention and management of Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia
  • Discuss the current criteria to the lung transplantation for advanced lung disease.
  • Explain the clinical presentations, treatments, and outcomes of Stage IV Lung Cancer
  • Outline the advances and state-of-the-art recommendations to treat complicated pleural effusions
  • Become familiar with the approach to the diagnosis and treatment of a solitary pulmonary nodule
  • Explain the phenotypes of high lung cancer risk and importance of CT screening
  • Identify and apply lung cancer disease biomarkers for targeted and immunotherapy
  • Recognize the comorbidities of COPD
