eterminants of health and asthma disparities. Along with Dr. Zajac\, she d

environmental asthma triggers in the home. \n\n \n\nDr. Lauren Zajac

Public Health and the Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Med
icine at Mount Sinai. She is a pediatrician who received fellowship traini
ng in pediatric environmental health. Dr. Zajac serves as a pediatrician a

ironment into Clinical Care: Lessons from a Pediatric Environmental Asthma
Program\n\n \n\n \n\nChildhood asthma is the leading cause of missed s
chool days and disproportionately affects children of color and those in l
ow-income neighborhoods. Differences in neighborhood housing quality\, p
revalence of pest and chemical pest control\, the psychosocial environment
\, and other systemic factors are likely drivers of the disparities. As p
hysicians\, we often think of asthma management as it relates to inhaler t
reatments and techniques. However\, given asthma’s pathophysiology link
ed to environmental pollutants\, the lived environment intimately intersec
ts with asthma health outcomes. This talk will outline an innovate clinic
al program at Mount Sinai that addresses environmental and social determin
ants of health for children with poorly-controlled asthma. We will explore
how our program translates the science into a comprehensive clinical appr
 oach to improve asthma outcomes in our patients.\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\
