DESCRIPTION:"Striving to balance effectiveness and sustainability in popula
 tion-based cancer genetic screening programs"\n\nAbstract:\n\nPopulation-b
ased cancer genetic screening holds great promise for cancer prevention\,
yet programs that are both effective at scale and sustainable remain rare.
Drawing on two NCI-funded cancer genetic risk screening projects in Georg
ia\, one in partnership with the Georgia Cancer Registry and one with rura
l public health clinics\, this talk examines design-phase decisions that e
xpand program reach\, improve effectiveness\, and support sustainability i
n real-world public health settings. These projects demonstrate how implem
entation science frameworks and social and behavioral theories guide multi
level program design. Lessons learned highlight approaches to achieving su
stained impact of population-based genomic programs\, particularly in unde
 rserved settings.\n\nDate: Tuesday\, March 17\, 2026\nTime: 12 - 1pm ET\nZ

 ry University\nyue.guan@emory.edu\n\n \n\nDr. Guan is a board-certified\,
licensed genetic counselor and social and behavioral scientist. She is an
Associate Professor and Director of the Precision Public Health Research P
rogram in the Department of Behavioral\, Social\, and Health Education Sci
ences (BSHES) at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health (RSP
H). As a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on multiple federally
and foundation-funded projects\, her research focuses on three major areas
: (1) health communication to develop effective genomic risk communication
strategies across the genetic risk spectrum\; (2) community engagement to
expand access to genomic services among underserved populations\; and (3)
implementation research to promote the sustainability and scalability of
population-based genomic applications. She has held leadership positions o
n the American Public Health Association (APHA) Genomic Forum Leadership T
eam\, the Board of Directors for the National Society of Genetic Counselor
s (NSGC)\, and the Chair of Equity Action Group of NCI Consortium for Canc
 er Implementation Science (CCIS).\n\nFaculty Host\n\nKatherine Bonini\, MA
