OBJECTIVES
1. Identify the pathogenesis of HAE.
2. Know the clinical presentations and “clues” in the patient’s medical history to help in the diagnosis of HAE.
3. Be able to order the appropriate laboratory tests necessary for diagnosing HAE.
4. Identify the current and future treatment options available for hereditary angioedema in the United States for
acute intervention and short and long-term prophylaxis.
5. Describe limiting factors and obstacles that may need to be overcome to ensure appropriate referral and
treatment of patients with HAE.
