About the Grand Rounds

Immigrant children and families face rising stress often missed by traditional systems. This session explores cross-sector (public, private, nonprofit) and cross-disciplinary (health, education, TV) collaboration to foster innovative, community-rooted solutions. Participants will engage in hands-on, small-group case studies centered on real-world challenges facing immigrant children and families, gaining practical experience applying cross-sector strategies to complex issues.

About the Speaker
Divya Chhabra, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and global mental health advocate specializing in early childhood trauma and equity-focused care. She is the Founder and Director of Early Childhood Services at the Emma Bowen Community Service Center, where she has created over 50 partnerships in the city. She serves patients at Bellevue and teaches the undergraduate course Liberty and Justice for “All” on systemic inequities at NYU. Her work spans policy, media, and global health, including consulting with Nickelodeon and Spotify, advising the New York State Office of Mental Health, and contributing to international initiatives such as youth programming in Mozambique and work with Columbia University’s International AIDS Care and Treatment Program (ICAP). She volunteers with the Cornell Center for Human Rights, conducting trauma-informed evaluations for undocumented children and training immigration attorneys. Nationally, she serves on the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Communications and previously served on the Council on Government and Advocacy Relations, where she helped author an anti-racism guide; she also sits on the Board of Directors for The Arthur Project and is a frequent national speaker on intersectionality, immigration, and prevention.
