The Friedman Brain Institute is pleased to host Angeline Dukes, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Neuroscience, University of Minnesota and Founder and President of Black in Neuro, for a special scientific lecture on “The Impact of Adolescent Nicotine and Cannabinoid Exposure on Incubation of Nicotine Craving in Adulthood”. Adolescent drug use is a continually increasing concern with teens having greater access to THC-containing products through statewide legalization and the growing appeal of nicotine-containing products through vaping. Thus, the long-term effects of this drug use on future drug-seeking behavior is an area of immense interest. In this talk, Ms. Dukes will share some of the findings from her dissertation research demonstrating how adolescent exposure to nicotine and cannabinoids has a lasting impact on nicotine self-administration and relapse-related behaviors in adult mice.
