Dr. Michael Preuss has been working in the field of genetics and genomics on scientific projects regarding high-throughput human genotyping and phenotyping data in Biobank cohorts for more than a decade. His research focusses on the exploration of genomic-, environmental- and lifestyle analyses to identify associations and causal relations between these factors. Subsequent work consists of contributing results to- and collaborating with large consortia like CHARGE, GIANT, DIAGRAM and UK Biobank and more.

The collaboration with consortia groups has led to major breakthroughs of gaining insights of causality in biological pathways and the underlying biology in common diseases like type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease and main risk factors like obesity and high blood pressure. Transferring these collaborative findings back to BioMe BioBank uncovers and establishes fundamental biological principles, which can be used for new treatments, early interventions, and targets for drug development.

Title of Talk: BioMe BioBank - 22k sample genotyping-array extension, computational approach and outlook

The 32k genotyping-array sample set of BioMe BioBank will be shortly extended to an additional 22k samples imputed with 1000G- and TOPMED reference panels. We varied common practices to control for specific circumstances regarding BioMe BioBank. The extension will lead to additional power and enriches genomic research i.e., regarding common diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes, and coronary artery diseases for African-, Hispanic-, Asian- and European ancestries.
