CME Course: Endoscopic Minimally Invasive ICH Evacuation

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Endoscopic minimally invasive ICH evacuation is a novel procedure that requires nuanced training. This training course will teach all members of the care team at other institutions how to establish a minimally invasive evacuation program and how to perform the procedure.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  • Describe evidence supporting minimally invasive intracerebral hemorrhage evacuation and ongoing efforts to further evaluate this procedure.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing the endoscopic minimally invasive evacuation procedure to the instructor during the simulation portion of the course.
  • Identify current barriers and provide an action plan to implementing a minimally invasive ICH evacuation program at your home institution.
  • Describe the steps of the procedure with a focus on complication avoidance and techniques that have been demonstrated to improve patient outcome.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, midlevel providers, nurses, and technicians who participate in the treatment of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage or performing minimally invasive intracerebral hemorrhage evacuation.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
