The Sidney A. Hollin, MD Memorial Lecture was established by Lila Hollin Green to foster the memory of her late husband, Dr. Sidney A. Hollin, a well-known cerebrovascular neurosurgeon at Mount Sinai. After completing a residency in Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai, Dr. Hollin continued as a traveling fellow in Neuropathology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, and training in Neurology at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital in Wimbledon, England. Dr. Hollin returned to Elmhust Hospital from 1961-1979 and served as Director of the Neurosurgical Service from 1974 until 1979 and also held an appointment at Mount Sinai School of Medicine from 1966 until his retirement in 1983.

Gregory J. Zipfel, MD is the Ralph G. Dacey Distinguished Professor of Neurosurgery and Chair, Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University, St. Louis, and Neurosurgeon-in-Chief, Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He serves as Co-Director of the Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/ Washington University. He is the director of the neurological surgery residency at Washington University, PI of the Washington University R25 grant to support neurosurgery resident research, and co-PI of the national K12 neurosurgery research career development program. Dr. Zipfel focuses his clinical practice on the surgical management of cerebrovascular disease and skull base tumors. He also directs the Cerebrovascular Research Program in the Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University.
